Question

Search for books and e-books

Answer

Use UIC Library Search to find books and media.

Find a book in your library

  1. Enter keywords, title, author or ISBN in the UIC Library Search on the home page.
  2. Go to "More Books & Media" to see additional results.

Find e-books only

  1. Select UIC Catalog only (There is no way to borrow an e-book from another library.)
  2. Enter keywords, title, author or ISBN in the UIC Library Search on the home page.
  3. Go to "More Books & Media"
  4. Limit your search in the left column:
    • Available Online
    • Books

Search and request from Illinois libraries through I-Share

  1. Search All I-Share Libraries by title, ISBN, subject or author.
  2. Sign in (top right)
  3. Click “GET IT FROM OTHER INSTITUTIONS.”
  4. Select your “Pick Up Library” and "Pick Up Location."
  5. Click “Place Request.”
  6. You'll get an email when the book is ready to pick up (usually 2-4 days).

Search and request from libraries worldwide

If you do not find the book you need in I-Share, the UIC Library will borrow it for you at no charge from another library. This interlibrary loan service takes longer than an I-Share request.

  1. Search the WorldCat catalog.
  2. Click Find it @ UIC
  3. Login to ILLiad
  4. Review the request and click Submit.

You'll get an email when the item is ready to pick up (usually 7-10 days).
