The Special Collections and University Archives department collects materials that document the political, social, economic, literary, medical and cultural history of Chicago. These materials usually represent the papers of persons and organizations. They can be in any format, including rare books, maps, artifacts, documents and photographs.

We also collect the personal and professional papers of UIC’s faculty, staff and alumni to document UIC’s history. Review the Donate Papers to UIC archives guide.

Need help organizing your own records? Feel free to read our online guide, Don’t Throw It Away (PDF).
